About Sandra

I'm a Board Certified Clinical Geriatric Psychotherapist, and I've built my practice around a population I care about deeply: older adults living with neurological disorders, and the family members who care for them.

My path to this work is personal. For eighteen months, I was a caregiver myself. I know the weight that caregivers carry — the exhaustion, the grief, the anger that surfaces at unexpected moments, and the loneliness of shouldering it largely alone. I also lived alongside an undiagnosed family member, so I understand from the inside what it means to navigate memory loss, changes in behavior, and the relentless day-to-day stress of it all without a roadmap.

Those experiences shaped the therapist I am today. I chose to work with older adults because I believe this stage of life deserves providers who understand aging, and because I've learned there's a real need for support that meets people where they actually are.

Why This Work Matters to Me

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to my own psychotherapy because I believe therapists have a responsibility to continue their own personal work. It has helped me understand the vulnerability of asking for help, the discomfort that often accompanies change, and the resilience that can emerge through life's most difficult seasons.

That experience has deepened not only my understanding of myself, but also my ability to be fully present with another person's pain — without judgment, without rushing to offer answers, and without trying to "fix" what first needs to be understood.

Every person's story is unique, and I can never claim to know exactly what it is like to live your life. What I can promise is this: I will never ask you to go somewhere emotionally that I have not been willing to go myself. My role is not to tell you how you should feel or who you should become.

It is to walk beside you with empathy, curiosity, and respect as you make sense of your experiences and discover your own path forward. I have learned that healing does not come from having all the answers. It comes from being deeply understood, genuinely accepted, and knowing that you do not have to face life's challenges alone.
